Security questionnaires and RFPs draw on documents that already live in Drive: policies, architecture overviews, past responses, and sales collateral. Connecting Drive lets Wolfia read those documents directly, so answers cite the current version of each file and stay current as your team edits them.

What Wolfia reads

Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides

Native Google files are indexed as documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Uploaded files

PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV, text, and Markdown files stored in Drive are indexed as well.

Folders, including subfolders

Select a folder and Wolfia indexes every supported file inside it, including nested subfolders.

My Drive and Shared drives

Pick from your own Drive or from any Shared drive your Google account can access.
Google Forms, Drawings, Apps Script, My Maps, and Sites are skipped. Access is read only: Wolfia never edits, moves, or shares your files.

Before you start

  • An admin role in Wolfia. Only admins can connect Google Drive.
  • A Google account with access to the folders and files you want to index.
A Google Drive connection is personal. It belongs to the Google account used to connect, and only that team member can see and manage the connection. Files are still available to your whole organization once indexed.

Connect Google Drive

1

Open the Knowledge Hub

In Wolfia, go to Knowledge Hub and find Google Drive in the list of integrations.
2

Sign in with Google

Click Connect, choose the Google account that has access to your documents, and grant Wolfia read access. You are returned to Wolfia once the connection is verified.
3

Select files and folders

Click Select files and folders to open the Google picker. Switch between the My Drive and Shared drives tabs, select any number of files and folders, and confirm. Your selection appears in the Google Drive sources table as Wolfia begins indexing.
Indexing time depends on how much you selected. The sources table updates on its own as files finish; you can keep using Wolfia while it runs.

Keep Drive in sync

  • Automatic sync: Wolfia re-reads your selected files and folders every day, picking up edits, new files added to selected folders, and removals.
  • Sync now: click Sync now on the Google Drive page to refresh immediately, for example right after a policy update.
  • Change the selection: reopen the picker at any time to add or remove files and folders. Removed items drop out of the knowledge base on the next sync.
  • Disconnect: click Disconnect to revoke Wolfia’s access. Documents indexed from Drive are removed from the knowledge base.

Good practices

  • Select folders over individual files. A folder keeps itself current as teammates add documents to it.
  • Keep superseded versions out of the selected folders, or archive them, so answers cite the latest policy.
  • Use a Shared drive for team documentation so the connection does not depend on one person’s My Drive.

Frequently asked questions

Check that the file type is supported and that the connected Google account can open it. Files shared with view access only are fine; files the account cannot open are skipped. Click Sync now after fixing access.
The Google authorization was revoked or expired, for example after a password change or an admin policy update. Reconnect from the Knowledge Hub; your file and folder selection is kept.
Each connection is tied to one Google account. Connect with the account that can see the folders you want indexed, ideally through a Shared drive, so the connection keeps working as people join and leave.
No. Access is read only. Wolfia only reads the files you selected.
